No one likes to stress over complicated, time-consuming hair and skincare routines, especially during the summer when all we want to do is relax and enjoy the great weather. Here, Self magazine Beauty Director Elaine D'Farley shares some of her favorite simple, at-home must-haves to get a luxe look without spending a lot of cash or time getting gorgeous.

To get salon-quality hair color at home, try Vidal Sassoon Salonist At-Home Permanent Hair-Color Kit, available in 24 shades, $13.99 each. "It's a great, revolutionary two-step process. You start applying the hair color at your scalp because you need the most saturation of color on your roots. Then you mix up the special serum formula in the bowl, and take that through the length of your hair to get this great tone and multidimensional color," she says. "Studies show that people notice your hair within five seconds of meeting you, so you always want it to look luxurious, bright and sparkly," says D'Farley.

For radiant skin that's also protected from the sun, try La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk, $36. "I love it because it has a velvety finish that feels like a primer when you put it on your face. It's fast absorbing and doesn't feel greasy," says D'Farley. This broad spectrum sunscreen contains a Cell-Ox Shield antioxidant technology to not only protect against UVA and UVB rays, but also pollution and other skin-damaging elements. It's also water-resistant and fragrance-free. "Just add a little tinted moisturizer or concealer to get that flawless skin that we all want. Paired with a swipe of mascara and a flash of pink or coral lipstick, my favorite summer colors, you'll look like an effortless beauty and have more time to enjoy the summer," says D'Farley.
