Actress, comedian and Glee star Jane Lynch was in New York City this week, teaming up with Febreze and the ASPCA to get people talking about pet adoption and "noseblindness." Now, the former you've heard of, but the latter...

"Well, 'noseblind' is that condition when you become [so] accustomed to the smells in your own home that you don't smell them anymore," Lynch explains.

It turns out our furry friends are often to blame, with pet smells ranking second only to garbage as the most offensive odor in a home. In fact, 49% of Americans dread visiting homes with pets because of the stench -- and 60% of pet owners admit they would be mortified if their guests thought their homes smelled like animals.

So a partnership between odor-eliminator Febreze and the animal-loving ASPCA just made sense, as Lynch explains... "Febreze and the ASPCA are working together to encourage people to adopt pets. But of course, with pets comes smelly homes sometimes. And Febreze makes pet-friendly products. In fact, they're on the ASPCA Pet Friendly Living Products List."

Jennifer Ahoni from Febreze Research & Development breaks down the science behind the pet-safe product, "Febreze actually contains odor eliminating technology: our patented molecule Cyclodextrin, which is a molecule that actually works by encapsulating and trapping odor molecules in the air."

And, fittingly, a pet is actually joining the pet-friendly noseblindness crusade: rescue dog-slash-Instagram star Toast Meets World. And Lynch couldn't be happier to work with the Internet canine sensation. "Toast, I've always wondered, what is your favorite Febreze scent? Is it the Linen and... I knew it, it's the Linen & Sky," says Lynch, during a heart-to-heart with her new partner in crime, adding, "Hey, Toast, will you follow me on Instagram? You have so many more followers than I do."

"Every year, almost 7 million dogs and cats enter shelters across the country, and nearly half that number never come out," explains the ASPCA's Tina Wyman, "And that's why pet adoption is of essential importance to the ASPCA, which is what makes it great that Febreze has come on board to help support this incredible cause."

"What I will miss most about the show is the people," shares Lynch, "And the crew, I mean, the unsung heroes of that show... What they did on a weekly basis putting each episode together -- sometimes we had seven or eight musical numbers -- and they are the most wonderful, hard-working loving people I've ever worked with. And, of course, the cast - I'm going to miss the heck out of them, especially Matt Morrison, who I just adore." And what's next for TV's most ferociously funny Phys. Ed teacher? "I'm doing a cabaret show all over the country," says Lynch, "Go to JaneLynchOfficial.com, which is my website, to find out where those gigs are."
