Hottest Prom Trends with Seventeen Magazine
It’s almost time for prom season and David’s Bridal and Seventeen Magazine have teamed up to give aspiring teen designers a chance to sketch their dream prom dress and win a ‘dream prize.’ Executive Editor of Seventeen Magazine, Joanna Saltz has all the hottest prom trends.
JS: Well we teamed up with David’s Bridal to create the “sketch your prom dress” contest, High School students across the country submitted sketches along with a 100 word essay about their design inspiration. Our editors and design experts judged the entries and America weighed in too and the winner… Samantha Bryant, 17 from Fairfax, Va. With this fabulous sketch, she was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting “starry night” and David’s Bridal developed, manufactured and is now selling in select stores for 249 dollars.
Such an on-trend midnight-blue glitter beaded ballgown. It sparkles and shines just like the night sky…empire waist that creates a flattering silouette, halter neckline –so elegant.
What are some of the other trends we’ll be seeing for prom this year?
JS: Bold colors prints like this one... And on the other side of the spectrum…Pretty ethereal flesh tones, pastels and white in tulle, lace and other soft sheer fabrics, romantic and pretty.
Embellishments are back---all over sequin, gems and any kind of fun glitzy sparkle for the party girl who wants to stand out and likes bling.
