About 3.9 million dogs enter the shelter system in the U.S every year. They give us so much--love, devotion, humor. Now it's time for us to give back by supporting the rescue groups that work to save their lives and find them safe and loving forever homes. Here's how you can help with a simple click.
Go to Myrescue.dog*, a new website that, as tech expert Katie Linendoll explains, helps keep the funds flowing to the rescue groups that save thousands of dogs from bleak futures every year. How does it work? "If you are a rescue or adopter you can post a picture of your dog and a short story about their rescue. People can actually go to the site and vote for their favorite pup. Every single time a photo is posted a $10 donation will be generated to the PetFinder Foundation. And also, every single time a vote is cast, a $1 donation will be generated," says Linendoll.
Also, every single time a vote is cast, a $1 donation will be generated. At the end of this one month contest, the goal is to generate $100,000 dollars. The dog with the most votes will win $25,000 to donate to the shelter of his human's choice. There will also be 15 second place winners who will receive $5000, again to his shelter of choice. The impact this money will raise to benefit shelter dogs is is immense and each dollar counts, so pop up a picture of your rescue pet for all the world to admire. You can also search the site for adoptable dogs. Woof!
*Note the web address. It ends in "dog," not "com." Linendoll explains that in the next few months many sites will debut with unexpected addresses. Look for ".dog,", "photography", and "guru." Be on the lookout.
