From Hannah's "shorter-alls" to Marnie's sophisticated shift dresses, Jennifer Rogien is charged with the fun and challenging task of creating the looks for the hottest show on HBO.

Girls, known for its raw humor and unique tone, distinguishes itself with an eclectic style all its own. Jennifer explains, "Although we're behind the scenes, it's the job of the costume designer to support the characters and the storyline. And what we're seeing on TV is starting to have an influence on how we dress in life."

So what's the inspiration behind these quirky yet fabulous fashions? Jennifer tells us she and her team spend a lot of time working from the script and looking to show creator Lena Dunham for guidance. Then it's off to anywhere from Bloomingdales to the local thrift store to find the perfect pieces that pull the look together.

Wondering what perfect piece can pump up your own look? Jennifer suggests, "A really good handbag can go a long way. It can take you to work, out to play, around [on] the weekends...it's worth a couple extra dollars to get a great bag that can carry you through lots of seasons."
