Chuck Negron, founding member and lead vocalist of Three Dog Night, has died at age 83. According to his publicist, he passed away peacefully at his Studio City, California home on Monday, surrounded by family, following complications from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Negron co-founded Three Dog Night in Los Angeles in 1967 with Cory Wells and Danny Hutton. The band scored 21 Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, including three No. 1 songs: “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Joy to the World,” and “Black and White.” Other classics include “One (Is the Loneliest Number)” and “Old Fashioned Love Song.” Despite his success, Negron struggled with addiction but later achieved sobriety, pursued a solo career, and reconciled with the band before his death. He is survived by his wife, Ami Albea Negron, and his five children.

A reward of up to $2,500 has been offered for information.
