Téa Leoni and husband Tim Daly to star together in NBC pilot Newlyweds
Real-life couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly are set to headline NBC’s upcoming comedy pilot Newlyweds. The series centers on Tony (Daly), a recently divorced, buttoned-up professor, and Jeanie (Leoni), a free-spirited woman who couldn’t be more different. After a chance meeting at a valet stand, the pair dive headfirst into an impulsive, whirlwind marriage, setting the stage for a comedy about opposites attracting — and adapting. NBC picked up the pilot in January, and it is currently in contention for the 2026–2027 television season. Leoni and Daly’s on-screen partnership previously won over audiences during their six-season run as husband and wife on Madam Secretary. Their chemistry extended beyond the set: After more than a decade together, the couple officially married last July.
Martin Short’s 42-year-old daughter Katherine dies by suicide
Katherine Hartley Short, the 42-year-old daughter of actor Martin Short, was found deceased at her home in the Hollywood Hills on Monday evening. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that she died by suicide. “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” the Short family said in a statement to PEOPLE. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.” Katherine was the eldest of three children adopted by Martin Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who died of ovarian cancer in 2010. A licensed clinical social worker based in Los Angeles, Katherine earned degrees from New York University and the University of Southern California. She was deeply committed to mental health advocacy and worked to reduce stigma through her involvement with the nonprofit Bring Change 2 Mind. In light of the family’s loss, Martin Short’s upcoming You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today! comedy performances with Steve Martin in Milwaukee and Minneapolis have been postponed.
