Broadway Star Brandon Victor Dixon Enters a New Musical Era with Upcoming Solo Album

The Tony-nominated actor opens up about his latest single “Maybe,” his iconic roles, and what’s next in his evolving artistic journey

Grammy Award–winning actor, singer, and producer Brandon Victor Dixon is stepping into a powerful new chapter. His latest single, “Maybe,” offers a poignant glimpse into his songwriting, with more to come on his forthcoming album.

Dixon’s acclaimed career spans stage, screen, and music. His standout credits include his Emmy and Grammy-nominated portrayal of Judas in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar; his electrifying performance as Aaron Burr in the Broadway phenomenon Hamilton; and his Tony-nominated roles as Eubie Blake in Shuffle Along and Harpo in The Color Purple. He also earned a Grammy nomination for his portrayal of Berry Gordy Jr. in the Tony and Grammy-nominated Broadway production Motown The Musical.

Most recently, Dixon won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album and received a Tony nomination for his performance as Davis in the original company of Hell’s Kitchen. The Alicia Keys-inspired, multi–award-winning Broadway musical will play its final performance at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on February 22, with Dixon returning to his role beginning January 27.

In addition to his original music, he has released a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the Eagles’ classic “Hotel California,” further showcasing his vocal depth and versatility.
